Guest, Frederick Edward Cpt. CBE, DSO. Secretary of State for Air, Chief Whip, Liberal Coalition MP for East Dorset. Later returned to parliament as a Conservative. (B. 14 Jun 1875, D. 8 April 1937).
Participated in the MP passenger demonstration flight, June 17, 1921 (the eighth flight of R36). Formerly a private secretary to his first cousin Winston Churchill, Guest had a varied and distinguished military career in WWI.
He defended the mild Air Ministry expenditure for the R36 MP flight in Parliament, which did not come from public funds in any case. He was an aeroplane pilot and would help establish the British airfield operator National Flying Services and was master of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators.
