Rigger Hector Ford was born on 16.11.1903 and came from Devon. The pre-flight press release states that he served with the RAF from 1920 – 1929 and ‘was attached to Cardington’ working on the R33 and R37 airships. It is possible that he lived in Shortstown before 1925, but his name first appears on the registers as a resident in 1930.
Tragically, lost his life in the loss of the R101 on 5th October 1930.
