Rigger George Martin Rampton joined the Royal Flying Corp in 1915. He lived in Shortstown since 1929 and was a highly experienced member of the crew, having joined the Royal Flying Corp in 1915 and served in the First World War having served on several non-rigids during WWI
After the war was over he moved on to airship duties and served on many ships, including R31, R32, R34 and R.36
Tragically, lost his life in the loss of the R101 on 5th October 1930.
